
I was at a meeting in the Federal Reserve Bank in San Francisco last week--yes I was trying to get them to lower interest rates--good job, eh?--and get a sample of the $2 billion in worn bills in the basement awaiting the shredder. They said no. But out the window of our conference room, I snapped this picture of the SF financial district looking very two dimensional, sort of like the US economy these days--seemingly not much depth and maybe a house of cards.
Interesting about the Fed--a friend asked if he had to leave his pocket knife outside security. "No," the guard replied, "we have 50 caliber machine guns, you can have your knife..."
